Established in 1985, the Northern Lights Health Foundation serves to engage people, inspire philanthropy and secure funds to improve health and promote wellness in the Wood Buffalo region.
Through capital campaigns, signature events and various other fundraising initiatives, the Health Foundation funds vital medical equipment, programs and services bringing care closer to home for Wood Buffalo residents. Read Our History.
With donor support, the future of health care in Wood Buffalo is brighter than ever. To ensure more access to health services in our region we have recently aligned with the Alberta Cancer Foundation to support their $3M commitment to replace the mobile breast cancer units that provide screening services to 120 rural and remote communities in Alberta. We are engaged in Indigenous health by funding the Better Together Indigenous Health initiative which seeks to under the current health care service demand and discover where we can improve and enhance service delivery for Indigenous patients.
We have recently funded the creation of two spaces to support children's mental health - the Sentopia Centre presented by Syncrude, and the Synergy Hub presented by CNOOC International will open in fall 2023.
In 2019 we completed the fundraising for the largest campaign in the Health Foundation's history - the $16 million Gratitude Campaign! Completed projects include the relocation of health clinic spaces in Anzac and Conklin and the creation of the Jeremy Snook Memorial Palliative Suites. Projects in progress include the creation of Minimally Invasive Surgical Suites - with the first two suites now open for surgeries, and the Suncor Heart of Health Lobby.
We are looking for your support for health care programs and equipment in public health, mental health, seniors health, maternal and children's health. To show your support, donate today.
