The Better Together Indigenous Health Project envisions working with Indigenous Partners to foster culturally safe and inclusive health care in the Wood Buffalo region.
Improving the health of Alberta’s Indigenous peoples is a priority for Alberta Health Services (AHS), with a focus on reducing the health disparity gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Athabasca Tribal Council (ATC) is a key partner in the joint planning and design of improved health services and systems. The Better Together program will be a process of engagement designed to collect and integrate feedback from all Indigenous communities to create a culturally appropriate space at NLRHC.
The Northern Lights Health Foundation was requested to provide funding to launch Phases 1 and 2 of the project to enable the research, engagement, planning, and project development under the Joint Working Group which leads the Better Together Project.
