Racers Rev Up For The 4^th NLHF Hospital Bed Races presented by Raymond James

On Saturday, September 25^th, teams of racers compete head-to-head to see who can push a hospital bed in the fastest time in a 50-meter sprint. The winner takes home the Golden Bedpan Trophy, and everyone who participates helps raise vital funds for the Northern Lights Health Foundation.

The races take place at the Upper level Parking Lot at the Snye.  The green flag drops at 11am.  Teams are encouraged to dress in costumes that reflect their spirit and determination. Although the Golden Bedpan Trophy goes to the fastest team, there are Team Spirit and Fundraising prizes as well. 

“Since the races launched in 2018, people have really taken to this idea,” says Health Foundation Executive Director Cindy Amerongen. “They love the competition and also the absolute zaniness of the whole event. It’s a treat for participants and spectators alike.”

The event has grown each year, with 18 teams currently registered for their chance to grab for the Golden Bedpan and a year’s worth of bragging rights.

“This is a great opportunity for team building,” says NLHF Director of Development Lorna Ash.  “We encourage businesses and community groups, as well as local residents, to enter teams and work together for this important cause. And also to have a terrific time.”
