Canadian Natural Resources Limited donates $625,000 to the Northern Lights Health Foundation’s Gratitude Campaign

Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Northern Lights Health Foundation is extremely pleased to announce that Canadian Natural Resources Limited (Canadian Natural) has donated a total of $625,000 to the Gratitude Campaign.  This substantial donation is being directed to renovations of the Community Clinic in Conklin as well as upgrades to the Continuing Care unit on the 4th floor of the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre. On Wednesday November 29th, an official cheque presentation was held with Kelsey Norton from Canadian Natural in attendance.

The Gratitude Campaign is comprised of eight projects that will positively impact the health care experience for all residents of the Wood Buffalo region. For residents outside of Fort McMurray, occasionally going to a small local clinic may be their only interaction with health care providers. Updates to the clinic in Conklin have provided a more welcoming and professional atmosphere to individuals and families with new furniture, lighting, paint and flooring.

For residents calling the Continuing Care unit at the Health Centre home, having a comfortable and friendly space is vital to their health and well-being.  Many are long term residents and many require care 24 hours per day. Canadian Natural’s generosity has enabled Alberta Health Services to make improvements to their surroundings with fresh paint colours, new flooring and curtains, new tables and chairs in the common dining room, and updated furniture in resident rooms.

None of these projects would be possible without donors such as Canadian Natural. They are committed to the health and safety of their employees, contractors, stakeholders and have extended this caring attitude to all residents of Wood Buffalo. Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director for the Northern Lights Health Foundation says, “Canadian Natural has been a supporter of the Health Foundation since they first launched their Horizon project. They have consistently demonstrated that their operations benefit the people of the region and their donation to advance health care services at the hospital and in Conklin shows a great regard for our communities. We are very pleased that they have joined the Gratitude Campaign team!”

“We are proud of our long-standing relationship with the Northern Lights Health Foundation,” said Adele Thomson, Manager, Surface Land and Stakeholder Relations at Canadian Natural. “Canadian Natural is pleased to contribute to this campaign to help enhance support and vital health services for communities in the region, including our employees, their families and their neighbours.”
