Health Foundation Welcomes New Board Members

Hello everyone,

The Northern Lights Health Foundation Board of Directors is pleased announce that the following community members have recently accepted a leadership role on the Board.

These individuals add strength at the Board level in financial management, project management, stakeholder relations, governance and community investment:

Julio Florez
Julio is currently an Associate Broker with Royal LePage True North Realty. Julio was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia and once served as a Deputy District Commander with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Cambodia. Julio immigrated to Canada in 1994, and has worked in real estate since 2005. According to Julio, he joined the the Health Foundation team because, “being a part of the community is important to me, but enhancing our community, even more so. Being able to contribute to the mission of the Board by inspiring health, wellness and philanthropy really spoke to me.”

Greg Fuhr
Born and raised in Alberta, Greg is currently the Vice President, Mining & Extraction with Syncrude Canada Ltd., a position he has held since 2012. A chemical engineering graduate, Greg previously had a 26-year career with Sherritt International where he worked in Edmonton, Cuba, Madagascar and Indonesia. Greg joined the Health Foundation team because he believes “excellent health care is a foundational piece of a vibrant community.”

Doug Janikiewicz
Doug is the Chief Operating Officer with Bouchier. Originally from the UK, Doug previously held various leadership roles with Carillion, including several years working in the health care industry. Throughout his career, Doug has lived and worked in South Africa, Australia, Dubai, London, Qatar and now Canada. According to Doug, joining the Health Foundation’s Board was a natural fit. “I’ve been fortunate to work in a number of countries, with great people on amazing projects, and I see getting involved with the local community as an important part of being new to an area.”

Guy Hackwell
Originally from the UK, Guy is the Plant Manager with Shell Albian Sands. A Chemical Engineer by trade, Guy has had a 26-year career with Shell in a variety of roles throughout the UK, the Netherlands, Kenya, Australia and Canada.Guy is married to his wife Sandie with two grown children, Catherine and Nick. In his off time, he enjoys playing, umpiring and watching a range of sports including field hockey, cycling and skiing.

Established in 1985, the Northern Lights Health Foundation serves to engage people, inspire philanthropy and secure funds to improve health and promote wellness in the Wood Buffalo region.
