Higher Health supports the women of Wood Buffalo
through Health Foundation gift

Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Northern Lights Health Foundation is proud to receive a generous gift of $13,000 from Higher Health Clinic in support of women’s health in the Wood Buffalo region. The funds will support an expansion and enhancements to the Maternal Child Unit of the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre. A group photo will take place Tuesday, June 30 at 1:00 p.m. at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre – media are invited to meet at the Health Foundation office for coverage and questions.

The Maternal Child Unit is being expanded into the former space occupied by Home Care in the Health Centre. Higher Health’s gift will support renovations to the existing waiting room, creating a welcoming, comfortable space for Wood Buffalo’s birthing families and their loved ones – the many grandparents, sisters, brothers, uncles, aunts and siblings that await the news of a new baby.

“We’re so thankful to Higher Health for their kindhearted gift in support of women’s health in our region,” says Susanne Chaffey, Executive Director of the Northern Lights Health Foundation. “Their support will make an incredible difference in the lives of families welcoming new little ones into our community.”

Higher Health Clinic is a locally owned and operated holistic health clinic specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Registered Massage Therapy, Yoga, Nutrition and Birth/Postpartum Doula Support. Through their holistic offerings they support mothers and families in Wood Buffalo as they navigate fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

“Higher Health's twenty plus Doulas love working with health care providers at the Health Centre and are excited to be a part of such an exciting expansion right here in Fort McMurray,” says Heather O’Neill, Manager, Community Relations with Higher Health. “We’re excited to celebrate long awaited change in our birthing community and the space in which women give birth! Northern Lights is making some incredible changes and we’re just happy to support their vision.”

All renovations will begin their construction later this year and we look forward to having you follow the journey. The public is encouraged to stay tuned to Higher Health's Facebook page for more information in the coming months: www.facebook.com/higherhealthdoula.
