Health Foundation Launches Inaugural
Hospital Bed Races
Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Northern Lights Health Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the first ever Hospital Bed Races presented by Raymond James. This fundraiser will be held on September 29th at MacDonald Island Park alongside the Fire Prevention Week Community Kickoff event.
The fun competition will pit teams of five people (four runners and one rider or “bedbug”) in head-to-head sprint races. The competitors will be raising funds for the Northern Lights Health Foundation, with each team having a goal of raising $2,500 and vying to win the Inaugural Golden Bedpan Trophy .
“This is a tremendous opportunity for people to have fun, build team-spirit, and raise funds for local healthcare” states Health Foundation Executive Director Cindy Amerongen. “We know that our community members thrive on healthy competition and are great supporters of healthy lifestyles and display a safety-conscious attitude. The Kentucky Derby Horse Race component of our recent Spring Fling was hilarious as everyone came together in the spirit of competition. We wanted to bring that same energy and excitement to the community as a whole and have a lot of fun with it. We have secured a fantastic Hospital Bed Races title sponsor in Raymond James and we are very pleased that the Fort McMurray Firefighters Association allowed us to bring this inaugural event to their Fire Prevention Week Kickoff.”
