Health Foundation receives $25,000 from RE/MAX Fort McMurray from annual golf tournament

Fort McMurray, Alberta – Thanks to RE/MAX Fort McMurray, the Northern Lights Health Foundation is receiving a generous gift of $25,000 in support of health care in Wood Buffalo. The funds were raised through RE/MAX’s 8th Annual Charity Golf Classic this past spring. RE/MAX’s gift will go to the Health Foundation’s unrestricted fund, providing the means to fund areas of greatest health care need in the Wood Buffalo region. To celebrate the gift, the Health Foundation will host a cheque presentation with RE/MAX on Thursday, Sept. 10.

“The Health Foundation thanks RE/MAX for their remarkable support of health care in our community and for their continued partnership on this wonderful initiative,” says Susanne Chaffey, Executive Director of the Health Foundation. “Their support of the Health Foundation’s unrestricted fund allows our organization to respond to Wood Buffalo’s most critical health care needs, having a positive impact on countless people receiving care in our community.”

“This donation is made possible because of our tournament sponsors and participants who believe in the causes we support and our philosophy that premium health care for our region is not a want but a must,” says Katie Ekroth, Managing Broker of RE/MAX Fort McMurray. “Donating to the Northern Lights Health Foundation aids them in meeting the needs of our hospital and demands of the region. It’s so much more than health care it’s a quality of life.”

For eight years, RE/MAX Fort McMurray has hosted their hugely successful Annual Charity Golf Classic, which has raised over $400,000 for charity. This year’s golf tournament had 132 participants and raised $50,000 in support of the Health Foundation and the Children’s Miracle Network, with proceeds split equally between the two foundations. RE/MAX is a committed supporter of health care in our community, having contributed over $263,000 to the Health Foundation since 1998.
