Northern Lights Health Foundation Brings Innovation to the Forefront
Spring Fling 2021 presented by Syncrude a Virtual Triumph
At Spring Fling 2021, presented by Syncrude, the Northern Lights Health Foundation hit the Fast Forward button and raised $145,000 (net) for local healthcare initiatives!
The program kicked off with the first ever hologram in Wood Buffalo, and ended with shouts of joy from Team Pursuit Challenge participants. In between, the event showcased innovations in healthcare, events, and philanthropic giving.
Dave Tuccaro, owner and CEO of The Tuccaro Group, brought a personal and deeply meaningful message right into living rooms across the region and as far away as Toronto! From the virtual platform lobby and lounge, by way of an app and a QR code, Dave appeared as a hologram in every attendee’s home!
The event included the ATB Flashback with photos of previous Health Foundation events; a mixology video in which guests learned to create their own Spring Fling signature cocktail; the opportunity to make a charitable donation, and the $20,000 50/50 Spring Fling draw.
The highlight of the night was the Fast Forward presentation on the Suncor Main Stage. The videos presented told an amazing story, vividly and movingly, demonstrating where donations and event sponsorship funds have been used and how much they have helped. This public generosity has led to major systems improvements at the hospital, in patient care and safety, in increased access to services, and in ensuring the facility has leading edge surgery, medication management, and patient spaces.
Nelson Barbosa, Chair of the Health Foundation Board of Directors, noted that the Foundation is focused on deepening local capacity in three major areas – emerging needs, sustaining excellence, and transformation projects. Upcoming projects in Children’s Mental Health, Seniors’ Care, Continuing Care, Home Care, and Indigenous Health will be announced in the coming months.
No Health Foundation event is complete without guest participation and interaction. And, though all participated virtually, attendees participating in the Team Pursuit Challenge enjoyed laughter and positive connections.
“Healthcare is for everyone and it takes a collaborative effort to support each other to create the healthy lives we all want,” said Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director of the Northern Lights Health Foundation. “We can’t begin to adequately thank the sponsors, service providers, and volunteers who helped bring this event together. Together we are stronger, more innovative, more responsive, and more able to support our local healthcare teams to do the tough and compassionate work they do every day.”
