Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Health Foundation is thrilled to announce two gifts totaling $500,000 from David Bouchier and Nicole Bourque-Bouchier, and their company Bouchier marking their two largest philanthropic gifts to date. The two donations of $250,000 each will fully fund the Multi-purpose Clinic as part of the Gratitude Campaign. On Sept. 20, 2016, the Health Foundation will host a gift announcement during the Bouchier Skidsteer Rodeo at 11:45 a.m. at the Bouchier Office located in the Fort McKay Business Incubator.
“Through their two gifts, David and Nicole have demonstrated a phenomenal commitment to improving health services in our community,” said Melanie Antoine, Chair of the Health Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Thank you to David, Nicole and their company for their incredibly generous support of the Multi-purpose Clinic Project, and we look forward to naming the Clinic after them once the project is complete.”
Renovations to the existing Clinic in the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre will greatly improve the patient experience, reduce patient traffic and wait times in the Emergency Department, and increase capacity for specialist appointments and other ambulatory care procedures. The renovations will include:
• A new space for IV therapy, a non-emergency service currently located in the Emergency Department and receiving 10-14 patients per day;
• A dedicated space for physician charting and dictation;
• An additional exam room for procedures such as phlebotomies and iron infusions;
• An enhanced reception area to improve patient privacy and consultation;
• A child-friendly waiting room including toys, child-sized tables and chairs and wall-mounted television in the examination room to occupy children;
• And new reclining chairs and privacy curtains to improve patient comfort.
“Bouchier got involved with the Gratitude Campaign from the onset. As a local company, we thought it was important to make a stand in terms of health care and were delighted to be one of the first companies to show our commitment to this region. Fort McMurray has given us so much and we are thrilled to give back,” said David Bouchier and Nicole Bourque-Bouchier, owners of Bouchier.
Business leaders and philanthropists, the Bouchiers have been supporters of the Health Foundation since 2014. In addition to their two significant financial gifts to the Gratitude Campaign, Nicole has contributed her time and talent to the Campaign Cabinet and as Co-Chair of the Pacesetting & Leadership Committee.
