WOW! Impact 50/50 Raffle Winner Announced
On September 9, Adam Waldolf was the lucky winner of the WOW! Impact 50/50 Raffle, taking home a cash prize of $64,965 with the other half going directly to Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo charities; The Northern Lights Health Foundation, Local HERO Foundation and Friends of the Fort McMurray Firefighter Charities Funds Society. This initiative helped to raise much-needed funds for medical equipment, medevac missions, and health and wellness initiatives in the community. The winning ticket number was 23456.
“The Local HERO Foundation is delighted with the outcome of the joint lottery. Besides receiving crucial proceeds from ticket sales, the wide-spread promotion of the fundraiser has helped raise awareness of this life-saving service for northeastern Alberta, “said Andrea Spring, executive director of the Local HERO Foundation. “Patients flown to a higher level of care centre never receive a bill, so support is vital to keep HERO1 in the air and saving lives. Thank you to all who purchased tickets!”
“It has been a pleasure working with two other frontline charity groups to plan the WOW! Impact 50/50 lottery,” Spring continued. “As we all support the health and well-being of the residents in the region, it was a natural fit and we look forward to future collaborations.”
“The Friends of the Fort McMurray Firefighter Charities Funds Society is very happy with the outcome of this lottery and are appreciative of all the support we’ve received,” said Scott Germain, representative of Friends of the Fort McMurray Firefighter Charities Funds Society. “Bringing awareness to our missions and values is a win-win for the whole community as we are able to help more and more residents with the funds we’ve raised. We’d like to thank everyone who purchased a ticket and helped bring awareness to all three of our organizations.”
All organizing charities are excited to offer another 50/50 raffle in the near future. “Fort McMurray is a generous community, full of residents who are always giving back, and all of us can make a difference in our towns and neighbourhoods.” said Adam Waldolf, the lucky winner. “I encourage everyone to do what they can by participating in community events, or volunteering with one of the many frontline organizations out there.”
