Fort McMurray, Alberta – The Northern Lights Health Foundation is very pleased to announce that A.P.E. Maintenance has pledged their support to the Health Foundation’s Gratitude Campaign in the amount of $60,000. On Thursday March 15th at the 2018 NAABA Business Showcase, the Health Foundation, Alberta Health Services and A.P.E. Maintenance will celebrate this gift with a cheque presentation. These funds will be directed to the Minimally Invasive Surgical Suite (MIS) Project.

The MIS Project is a state of the art upgrade to four surgical suites at the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre and will provide significant improvement to patient recovery times and outcomes; less time under anesthesia, quicker recovery, shorter hospital stays, less pain, better cosmetic results, and fewer complications. Benefits of the suite upgrades also include giving surgeons more control over the surgical space, quicker procedure and turnover times, the ability to consult and train other physicians on site and increased patient, physician, and nurse safety.

As the owners of A.P.E. Maintenance, Melanie and Lloyd Antoine understand the advantages of having this type of advanced health care technology close to home for their family, employees and clients. In addition, as the Board Chair for the Health Foundation, Melanie is dedicated to bringing MIS technology to all residents of Wood Buffalo which is why they chose to make a donation to the Gratitude Campaign. “We all utilize and need good health care close to home so contributing to the campaign only makes sense” says Antoine.

Northern Lights Health Foundation Executive Director Cindy Amerongen says the MIS Project will have a significant impact on the community “The upgrade to MIS technology will affect so many people. Having this modern and innovative equipment will help the Health Centre recruit new surgeons and will also result in people getting back to their families and back to work much faster.”  She goes on to say “By making this donation, A.P.E. Maintenance is expressing how much they believe in the project and how important it is to the entire region. We are so grateful for their leadership and hope it inspires other businesses to get involved in the campaign.”
