Fort Chipewyan Festival of Trees a Huge Success
On Saturday, November 23rd, hundreds of community members enjoyed the northern-most Festival of Trees activities at the Mamawi Hall in Fort Chipewyan and ushered in the Christmas season.
The event was entirely family-friendly and low-cost to community members. With the ever popular Christmas tree auction serving as the backdrop for the event, there were numerous other activities for families to enjoy. Kids competed in the Gingerbread House Contest, had photos taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus, they Decorated-a-Cookie and bought treats at the Candy Cane Canteen. There was also a Wreath Decorating Contest, a huge Toy Raffle, and Gift Shop Corner and of course, a hallmark of Festival of Trees, the Teddy Bear Hospital.
This year regional businesses and industry also supported the event with donations of trees, sponsorship and attendance as volunteers to help with the many activities.
Organizer and presenting sponsor Melanie Antoine says, "I would like to send a huge THANK YOU to all the companies for your support in this fun filled family event which I have to say was a huge success. This three hour event raised a total $41,595.00 for the Northern Lights Health Foundation.
It also brought the community together, engaged all residents, raised awareness on the importance the Hospital and most importantly, brought some Christmas spirit to everyone who attended."
There are many pictures of the event on Facebook and you can find them in the Facebook group called Fort Chipewyan Festival of Trees.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Fort Chipewyan Festival of Trees! Thank you for having fun and raising funds for Health!
