Junior Philanthropy – Youth Make a Difference for Healthcare

Age is no barrier when it comes to fundraising for special causes. Over the past year we have been delighted and amazed by the kids of our region and their generous donations to the Health Foundation. Kids have held garage sales, toy drives, bake sales, popcorn sales and lemonade stands. Kids have asked their friends to give cash rather than presents for their birthday and then donated the funds. This past year, the Junior Philanthropists donated over $2,000 in cash and toys to support health care in our region!

Youth are terrific volunteers at our Festival of Trees events – helping with set up and tear down, decorating cookies and stockings, tending to wounded stuffies in the teddy bear hospital, minding the children’s gift shop and supporting the children’s story time with Santa. Youth and kids are making a difference in their communities by supporting such things as the Janvier Community Garden project; creating garden beds and tending and harvesting vegetables to feed their families and friends.

Learning to give of your time, your talent, and your funds is important for children and youth. Showing kids that you can actually have a lot of fun helping others is an important part of socializing and helps to build the sort of communities we all want. We offer a very big thank you to Charlotte, Kyan, Milan, Sophia, Brody, Georgia and Kaiden for thinking of others and sharing generously to support the Health Foundation!
