McDonald’s Restaurants is Making the Season Even Brighter
We have already shared that the 31st annual Festival of Trees, presented by Syncrude, was full of surprises and unique ways of bringing seasonal joy to the community. Well, things got even brighter. The Northern Lights Health Foundation (NLHF) was so pleased to receive a call from Ben and Megan Land, owners of the local McDonald’s Restaurants, with a surprise donation of $25,000 to the Festival of Trees.
‘”McDonald’s was already supporting the Festival of Trees with a beautiful tree submission for our auction,” says Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director of the Health Foundation. “What a delightful call to receive. Another shining star for an event that brought the community together to celebrate the season, while maintaining all social distancing and Alberta Health Services protocols, and to raise funds for local healthcare.”
The local McDonald’s Restaurants have been partnering with the NLHF and local healthcare initiatives for 18 years and to date have donated $250,000.
Ben Land laughed, “I was online doing some shopping on the Festival of Trees Silent Auction to support the event and thought, why don’t I just make a donation. And so we made the call.”
“We have been fortunate this year”, Ben continued, “We have been able to stay open and keep serving the community. We are pleased to be able to continue supporting the community during these times.”
“The Northern Lights Health Foundation and Board of Directors are so grateful for this generous donation from McDonald’s Restaurant’s and Ben and Megan Land,” said Nelson Barbosa, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Thank you for your continued support, we could not make the impacts we do without you.”
