Jeremy Snook Memorial Palliative Suites Construction Completed
Health Foundation and donors mark a major Gratitude Campaign milestone!
The Northern Lights Health Foundation and AHS North Zone Area 10 are delighted to announce the completion of the Jeremy Snook Memorial Palliative Suites at the Northern Lights Health Centre.
Located on the 3rd floor of the hospital overlooking the downtown core and the Clearwater River valley, these three large suites are dedicated to end of life care and are exactly what community members were seeking for the compassionate care of their loved ones.
This project was the heart of the Health Foundation’s Gratitude Campaign and the construction of the suites was funded 100% by campaign donors and through the proceeds of the Jeremy Snook Memorial Raffle which ran from 2015-2017. Construction of the suites began in September 2019 and the project was completed at a cost of $1.68M.
Each suite features a patient room, a family room (with kitchenette and a convertible couch//bed for overnight stays), and a shared bathroom. In addition, a secure family lounge has been created to allow a quiet refuge. Each suite is generous, with room for family and friends to gather, for end of life ceremonies, for consultation with medical staff, and space for quiet contemplation and grieving.
The ward of suites has been named the Jeremy Snook Memorial Palliative Suites in honour of the beloved son of Brian and Gail Snook who passed away in 2013. Brian and Gail were instrumental in creating and running the Jeremy Snook Memorial Raffle and attracting multiple donations and attention to the palliative suites project. The three individual suites are named for the lead donors to the palliative suites project – the Imperial Oil Suite to acknowledge a major gift from Imperial Oil and the Imperial Oil Foundation, the RE/MAX Fort McMurray Suite to acknowledge the tremendous efforts and funding received from Lance Bussieres and his family of agents, and the Fouts Family Suite to acknowledge the campaign leadership and senior level funding from Dan & Janet Fouts.
The Health Foundation would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the Gratitude Campaign. Your concerted efforts in planning, fundraising, and donating are making the dreams of enhancing healthcare in our region a reality every day. The Jeremy Snook Memorial Palliative Suites will soon be available to provide you or your loved one with end of life care.
