The Northern Lights Health Foundation is pleased to announce funding of $80,000 from the Ledcor Group of Companies towards Pediatric & Adolescent Mental Health care at the Northern Lights Health Centre. It’s Ledcor’s 75th year of business and they are celebrating by sharing $3M in donations (over 4 years) to support pediatric healthcare initiatives in the communities in which they operate.
We are extremely happy to acknowledge this special anniversary gift. Last spring, in response to a defined need from our local hospital to expand services and enhance care for children and youth undergoing inpatient treatment for acute mental health indicators, the Health Foundation launched a fundraising drive specific to this area of need. Thanks to Ledcor’s gift the fundraising target of $500,000 has been met!
Two rooms on the Pediatrics Unit are being transformed to create age-appropriate treatment spaces for children and adolescents. The rooms will allow the care teams to offer core mental health programs including psycho-social intervention to teach self-regulation and reduce sensory processing challenges. This means that treatment rooms which includes sensory resources (designed to stimulate vestibular, proprioceptive, aerobic, oral motor, tactile, visual, and auditory processing) and mental health resources (designed to support the development of coping skills/stress management, self-awareness, self-esteem, problem solving, interpersonal effectiveness, assertive communication, and mindfulness) will be available locally to help kids and teens in acute mental health distress.
“This project is vital to expand services for children experiencing mental health indicators,”,” said Cindy Amerongen, executive director Northern Lights Health Foundation. “We can’t think of a better way for Ledcor to mark their significant 75 years in industry than by supporting children’s health now, and well into the future.”
“Giving back to the communities where we live, and work is part of our DNA,” said Dave Lede, Chairman and CEO at Ledcor Group. “For 75 years, Ledcor and our employees have assisted others in need by coming together to support organizations that have a special place in our hearts, helping to move our communities forward.”
Construction of the Sentopia Centre presented by Syncrude, and the Synergy Hub presented by CNOOC International, is underway with an expected completion in late spring 2023.
